Away Day and Team Offsite Venues Near London

An away day works when the team physically leaves the office and the day has room to breathe — proper meeting space in the morning, grounds and an activity in the afternoon, and dinner somewhere that does not feel like a conference room. The venues below sit within reach of central London by train or coach, and most have bedrooms on site for teams staying over.

Surrey, Berkshire, Hertfordshire, Buckinghamshire and West Sussex carry most of the estates we use — typically 45 to 90 minutes from central London, which keeps the travel short enough that you still get a full working day out of it.

For a one-day offsite, exclusive use of a smaller property often costs less than you would expect and completely changes the feel of the day. For two- and three-day residentials we look for enough bedrooms to hold the whole team in one building.

What makes an away day venue work

    • Travel time under 90 minutes — far enough to feel away, close enough that the day is not eaten by the journey.
    • Daylight in the meeting room — the single most common complaint about away days held in basement suites.
    • Bedrooms on site — essential for residential offsites and for the dinner that makes the day worthwhile.
    • Grounds and activity space — team activities, walking sessions and outdoor breakouts without a second location.
    • Exclusive use — many estates will sell the whole property, so the team is not sharing bars and corridors.
    • Breakout rooms — for workshop rotations alongside the main plenary space.

    Frequently asked questions

How far from London should an away day venue be?
As a rule, under 90 minutes door to door. Most of the estates we use in Surrey, Berkshire, Hertfordshire and West Sussex are 45 to 75 minutes from central London by train or coach, which leaves a genuinely full working day at the venue.
What does a team away day cost per person?
A day delegate rate at a country house outside London typically runs lower than the central London equivalent, and a 24-hour residential rate covering the meeting room, meals and a bedroom is the usual way these are quoted. Send your numbers and dates and we will come back with all-in per-head figures rather than a hire fee.
Can we book the whole property?
Often yes, particularly at the smaller estates and for midweek dates outside the wedding season. Exclusive use gives you the bar, the grounds and the dining room without other guests, which is usually what teams want from an offsite.
Do these venues arrange team activities?
Most have grounds and either an in-house activities team or a regular supplier — clay shooting, cookery, orienteering, spa and wellbeing sessions. We will tell you which venues run activities themselves and which need an external provider bringing in.
Is there a charge for the shortlist?
No. The service is free to organisers. Venues pay our commission, and you pay the same rate as booking direct.
