Christmas party venues in London — 15 ideas for the festive season

Festive table set for a Christmas party at a London venue

Christmas party season in London is the busiest hire window of the year — the best venues are usually gone by the end of September. This guide is our shortlist of the formats that work best, broken down by the kind of evening you want to throw.

Private dining rooms — for 12 to 40 guests

If your team is small enough to sit around one or two long tables, private dining rooms give you the best ratio of atmosphere to spend. Look for venues with a wine cellar room or a chef's table experience — both feel meaningfully more special than booking out the corner of a regular restaurant.

Historic buildings — for 60 to 200 guests

London's livery halls, museums and members' clubs are purpose-built for this scale of evening. Carriers of guests through canapés, dinner and dancing without you having to flip the room yourselves. The trade-off is price and lead time — book these in spring for December.

Rooftop bars and venues with a view

For drinks-only receptions, the skyline does half the work. The Shard, Sky Garden, 20 Stories in Manchester and the Coq d'Argent rooftop are all proven for corporate Christmas parties up to a couple of hundred.

    Nightclubs and late-licence venues

If the brief is 'we want it to feel like a party, not a dinner', a late-licence venue with a sound system saves you the cost of bringing in your own DJ rig and dance floor. Most are happy to do a buy-out on a quieter weeknight in December.
